CHS African American Alumni Association plans reunion weekend

The Camden High School African American Alumni Association will host a reunion weekend July 22 through 24 at the Historic Robert Mills Courthouse, located at 607 Broad St. Camden.

Check-in will be Friday, July 22, from noon to 7 p.m. A meet and greet will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. and a welcome reception will be held from 8 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, July 23, check-in will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be receptions by the city, classes, colleges and student organizations. Saturday will also include a professional networking session for those attending. A semi-formal reception and dinner dance will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. The event will include a fashion collection by designer Toni Whitaker, Informal Modeling. Dinner will be served at 8 p.m. The Mistresses of Ceremony will be Peggy Burroughs and Margaret Clyburn Lawhorn from the class of ‘71. The guest speaker will be Dwayne  K. Sutton of the class of ‘80. Dinner will be provided by Chef Green of  The Pearl. Dancing and Entertainment will be provided by Music by UNIT and DJ Joe Blow  and the Disco with a special guest appearance by the Original Soul Toys of Camden

A worship service will be held Sunday, July 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The service will include Rev. William Yam Miller, “Living Right Side Up in An Upside Down World.” II Timothy 3: 1-7; Rev. Patrice McLeod Davis; Terry Harris, Minister in Dance; and Rev. Dr. J. Britt Coleman, “God’s Got Your Back.”

A farewell brunch will be hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by credit card or check.  If paying by check,  go online and click other payment options. Click pay by check option, complete the registration form for each person, and mail the check to the address provided. To purchase tickets in person, contact Joe Council at 803-272-3442. Tickets are also available at Glory Hair and Nail Salon located at 1147 Wylie St. across from the old Jackson High  School Auditorium.

Registration for the reunion ends July 7. Tickets are $50 for the entire weekend.

Late registration tickets go on sale July 8. Late registration tickets are $65 per person for the weekend.

Tickets available at the door will cost $85 per person.
