The 2011 CLASS Shag Blast was held June 11 at the Camden Shrine Club.  It is the Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society’s annual major fund raising event.  This year the CLASS Shag Blast benefited the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County and Food for the Soul of Kershaw County.  Thanks to sponsors and the work of club members, $3,600 was donated to the organizations.  This is the most the club has been able to donate in the last seven years.

The night was filled with great food, great music, and great fellowship with fellow shaggers. Eighteen people took advantage of free shag lessons to ticket holders.

Five CLASS DJs provided great shag music for the event.  Ray Amyette, CLASS Shag Blast Chairman said he wants to give a special thanks to all of the Shag Blast Committee Members.

“Without them, the CLASS Shag Blast would not be possible,” he said.

A total of 177 people attended this year’s event, which was more than last year.  Next year, the CLASS Shag Blast will be held on June 9, 2012.
