Local family asks for support during difficult time

Dear Friends,

We believe that when a community rallies together, we can make a huge difference.  We’re asking that you help us to make such a difference in the life of Chelsea Renee Anderson, a recent graduate of Camden High School.

Last year, Chelsea was diagnosed with a brain tumor and a rare medical condition. As you can imagine, this presented her with a major challenge during her entire senior year.  However, in spite of constant excruciating pain, temporary blindness, and extreme fatigue, Chelsea achieved her goal of graduating along with her class!  What determination.  Now, we are determined to help Chelsea and her family.

Due to the rarity of Chelsea’s illness, her medical team in South Carolina located a team of doctors in Virginia that specialize in the field.  Chelsea’s mother, Rosalyn Moses, drives her to Virginia for all her tests, exams, and surgeries.  Most recently, a part of her treatment plan includes enduring a series of monthly injections that cost $450 each.
Although Chelsea’s mom is employed full time and medical insurance is available, a great deal of the financial strain lies with those things not covered by insurance, such as co-pays, the monthly injections, portions of the hospital stays and procedures, as well as out-of-town expenses when traveling to Virginia.

Chelsea has been accepted and plans to attend the College of Charleston this fall, where her older sister, Ashley, is a rising senior.  However, this will depend on how well she responds to her treatments this summer.
So, how can you help?

We are asking the community to help us raise funds for Chelsea by attending a fundraiser in her honor Saturday, “The Chelsea Renee Day Fundraiser” at the Camden Recreation Department from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  A variety of activities will take place, such as, spaghetti dinner sales, a silent auction, musical performances, and more.  Our hope is that you will help us in our efforts to support this family as they face a medical crisis.

If you would like more information or would like to support this worthy cause call Kim Durant at 432-5921 or Christie Derrick 803-312-5585.

Thank you for your support,
