City leaders looking out for youth

So the city of Camden is proposing to partner with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) to try and stem the trend of Camden youth being involved with drugs and gangs and you'd think the suggestion is to establish an association with the Communist Party! The mission of the YMCA is community centered, nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We need organizations like the YMCA.

Were a tragedy to strike Camden no one would question the city working with the Red Cross. Camden works hand in hand with Historic Camden, the Fine Arts Center, Christian Community Ministries, the United Way, and all other organizations trying to improve the quality of life in Camden. Kershaw County helped financially with the horse facility, encouraging and strengthening the horse industry in Kershaw County. Do we care more for horses than our children and grandchildren?

I salute our mayor and city council for partnering with the YMCA and anyone else working to eliminate drug use and gang activity! I'd rather have government that attacks these problems rather than sitting on their hands satisfied with the status quo.
