The Bethune Lions Club had a very busy meeting recently. First, it had a presentation to the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County.  To ensure the students at Bethune Elementary School are provided an arts enrichment program, the Bethune Garden Club, Bethune Lions Club and Bethune Woman’s Club banded together and presented the (FAC) with checks totaling $1,000.  The FAC will provide the arts enrichment program to Bethune Elementary during the 2011-2012 year.

Second, Ted Davis was recognized by the Bethune Lions Club for all the work he has done for the club through the years. He was presented with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. Melvin Jones was the founder of Lions Clubs. The fellowship was established in 1973 in response to Lions’ requests to honor those who have shown their commitment to Lions through the years. The Bethune Lions Club has awarded only eight of these fellowships since it was organized in 1952.

Third, a president’s plaque was awarded to Barbara Segars, outgoing president, by Wayne Tidwell, incoming president, of the Bethune Lions Club.
