A question of clutter

It’s funny how often a problem becomes an answer! I dropped a quarter in a kitchen drawer. It was “lost in the clutter”! I had to throw out stuff that just gets in the way. I found the quarter, and for a “bonus” I found that lost nut pick. It feels better when clutter doesn’t get in the way.

It happened again when an earring got lost. It was very small, so the first thing I did was to “rope off” the area. “Don’t walk here!” I said. Then I turned off the light and got a flashlight to look for something shiny. When that didn’t work I hung up clothes and tossed out old newspapers. I found the earring, and ended up with a neater room.

Here comes Aunt Sue with her white gloves! Gotta clean up the living room. (How long do you think the living room will stay neat after Aunt Sue leaves?) Pamela Peeke says that cleaning up clutter is a problem for lots of people. She says that we tend to start in the wrong places. It’s OK to be a bit messy, if you can find what you need. She suggests that we not focus on what may look messy to others. Instead start with spaces that bother us most. And if we find a lost earring in the process --  all the better!

Word List: answer, earring, Gotta, Pamela Peeke.
