The annual Godbold-Nash Memorial Ride will kick off Saturday at Camden Middle School (CMS). The ride honors S.C. Highway Patrol troopers H.M. Godbold and Jonathan Nash. Godbold died 19 years ago on U.S. 1 in Lugoff after his patrol car was struck by a drunk driver while responding to a call. Nash died in 2009 after his motorcycle was struck by a car on U.S. 1 near CMS while leading the ride that year.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; the ride at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 per bike or $10 per rider and includes a T-shirt and lunch. All proceeds benefit a memorial scholarship fund set up in Godbold and Nash’s names.

The ride is only part of the celebration. Back at CMS, there will be door prizes, a “Cruz In” car show, drawing and other family fun, including live music from noon to 2 p.m.

CMS is located at 902 McRae Road in Camden.
