Joseph, Piasecki named to state association offices

Local physicians Thomas N. Joseph and Andrew W. Piasecki have been named to leadership roles with the S.C. Orthopaedic Association.

During the association’s annual meeting Aug 4, Joseph was named the organization’s vice president after previously serving as secretary/treasurer. Piasecki was voted to the association’s Executive Council this year.

Joseph is also president of the Kershaw County Medical Society. A Camden native, he has been practicing medicine in the community since February 2004. Joseph specializes in foot and ankle care.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He served a residency in orthopaedics at New York University, Hospital for Joint Disease and a fellowship in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. He holds board certification with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Originally from the Baltimore-Washington metro area, Piasecki began practicing medicine in Camden in July 2006 after serving in Afghanistan. He specializes in sports medicine.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. He completed his medical residency at Texas Tech University/William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Piasecki is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, S.C. Orthopaedic Association, S.C. Medical Association, Kershaw County Medical Society and Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. 

The SCOA, established in 1950, is an organization that seeks to disseminate information about orthopaedics and educate the public on the field’s research and initiatives.
