Camden Art Association to host artist Shirley as September meeting guest speaker

The Camden Art Association (CAA), an affiliate organization of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will hold their first meeting of the new year at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in the Bassett Gallery at the FAC. The group will host Colt Shirley as the guest speaker. The Bassett Gallery is located at 810 Lyttleton St. in the Bassett Building. There is no charge for the program and the public is invited to attend.

About the Speaker

Shirley is a multi-talented artist who studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Atlanta. He makes his living doing what he loves, creating art.  Everyone in this area has seen the murals that brighten and beautify so many of our buildings.  Those murals are only a portion of the type of work Colt does. One of his most recent projects was an awesome metal sculpture of an eagle. “The scope and energy of his work is fantastic and we are looking forward to hearing him speak,” says past president of the CAA, Edward Nester. About the Camden Art Association

The CAA is a group of local artists, both professional and amateur, who meet the first Monday of each month and present two annual exhibits in the FAC Bassett Gallery.  The CAA welcomes anyone interested in the arts to join. Membership will provide opportunities for artists to showcase their work, to hear from speakers and demonstrators who can share their expertise, and meet other artists in the community.
