John O. "Jackie" Magee, 70, of Camden, will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Jackie’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

Jackie died Monday, September 5, 2011. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late John Joseph Magee and Ruby Oliver Magee. He was a United States Army Veteran having served as a medic in Vietnam. Jackie was retired from DuPont. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, the VFW and a former Demolay. Jackie was an avid Gamecock and NASCAR fan, sports fanatic and loved to bowl.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hoard Magee; son, John Joseph "Jody" Magee (Kim) of Lugoff; stepson, Christopher L. Gardner (Angela) of Lugoff; step daughter, Jill M. Burroughs (Stephen) of Lexington and eight grandchildren.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
