Williamsburg Academy served as little more than a tune-up for Tuesday’s match with rival Wilson Hall as the Thomas Sumter Academy junior varsity girls’ tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory last Thursday.

The Lady Generals are now 4-0 on the season.

A pair of Camden residents accounted for one-third of the TSA victories with Morgan Houde blanking Abigail Johnson, 8-0, in third singles while Meg McFarland ended singles play by shutting out Eliza Davis in sixth singles, 8-0. Houde later teamed with Anastasia Patterson to take an 8-1 win over Williamsburg’s second doubles pairing of Johnson and Gina Faye Reynolds, 8-1.

Becca Jenkins got the Lady Generals off and running with an 8-0 win over Morgan Wetsell in first singles. Aileen Twohig followed by shutting out Anne Louise Williamson at second singles. After Houde’s win, Patterson handed Reynolds an 8-3 loss in fourth singles. Jenna Edenfield continued the shutout mode as when she did not lose a game against Claire Kellahan.

In doubles play, Jenkins and Twohig downed Wetsell and Williamson, 8-1, a score copied by Houde and Patterson in their second doubles victory over Johnson and Reynolds. Edenfield would then team up with Brooke Delbocca to stop Millie Brown and Winston Jarrett, 8-1, in third doubles.
