16th annual Fire Fest scheduled Saturday

The 16th annual Fire Fest 2011 will take place Saturday at Rhame City Arena in Camden. The event will kick off with a parade at 9 a.m. through downtown Camden. This family event will also include skydivers, vendors, kids’ games, food, exhibitors and firefighter competition. The sky divers will enter around 9:45 a.m. and the opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Activities for children will include bounce-arounds, pony rides and games.

The event will also include a car seat safety check from 10 a.m. to noon. The check is free. SafeKids Kershaw County, led by KershawHealth, wants to ensure children ride safe every time they’re in a car. The child must be present for the check.

Fire Fest is hosted by the Camden Fire Department. Kershaw County Fire Services,Lugoff Fire and Sumter Fire Departments, Camden Police, Kershaw County Sheriff’s office and S.C. forestry will be featured guests.

Rhame Arena is located 1.5 miles north of I-20 on the corner of Bull and Broad Steets.
