The Lugoff-Elgin High School journalism department will host a pancake breakfast at the FATZ in Camden, located at 212 Wall Street on Sept. 24. From 7:30 to 10 a.m. FATZ will open its doors to members of the community and transform into a hotspot for hotcakes to raise money to support the L-EHS journalism department. Proceeds from the breakfast will be used to help the students of the yearbook team pay to attend local and regional scholastic journalism conferences where they can receive in-depth instruction from professionals and nationally recognized journalism teachers.

Tickets for “Short Stacks for Big Change,” a pancake breakfast fundraiser, are $7 and can be purchased by contacting Debbie Chapman at All attendees are encouraged to bring a donation to fuel FATZ fundraising efforts for the L-EHS journalism department.

FATZ introduced the idea of Short Stacks for Big Change in 2009 with the specific purpose of making a difference and helping the local community grow where every restaurant is located. Since its inception, FATZ has raised more than $800,000 for charities and community organizations.
