Camden High School took home the Caring Cup Sept. 17 when they surpased Lugoff-Elgin High School by more than $7,000. CHS students raised $13,700. L-EHS brought in just more than $6,500.

“We can’t express how much we appreciate our local students’ efforts to raise money for the United Way. These students have shown true leadership and it’s thrilling to see that quality in the young people in our community. The students at Camden and Lugoff-Elgin are changing lives. They are our heroes!” said Pam Spivey, United Way campaign coordinator.

CHS students enlisted other Camden schools to help out in the campaign competition, said Angela Cassidy, sponsor of CHS student council.

“The Camden community supported us all the way through this campagin,” she said. “I’m very proud of how student council worked together to acomplish this goal.”
