Time to stretch your legs and get on your bike! Are you an avid cyclist or are you more likely to go on a leisurely weekend ride with the kids? Whatever your preference, you may want to consider signing up for the 7th annual Tour de Camden bicycle ride.

Historic Camden and a group of other supporters are sponsoring the 7th Annual Tour de Camden bicycle ride on Saturday, Oct. 15. The ride proceeds go to the benefit of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and United Way of Kershaw County.

There will be a metric century (62 miles), a 50 mile and a 30 mile ride. The start time will be 9 a.m. and the ride will leave from Historic Camden, located at 222 Broad St. The routes will head south of Camden and travel southeast and then loop back to Camden. The terrain is mostly flat with a few rolling hills.

The ride has had from 75 to 200 riders from across the state and as far away as Virginia. This year more than 200 riders are expected to attend.

The Metric, 50-and 30-mile ride will be $30 per person. The family ride will be $6 per person. This includes maps, rest stops, sag, and an after-ride meal. Advanced registrants for the metric century, 50-and 30-mile rides will receive cycling socks. Ride day registrants will receive socks as available. The registration form can be found at www.sctrf.com or www.uwkc.net. Submit the registration form as indicated. You can also register the day of the ride.
