The Lugoff Elgin Varsity Volleyball team is hosting its annual Dig Pink JV Jam Tournament on Oct. 15 at Lugoff Elgin High School (L-EHS). The team chose to use the tournament as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and have already raised more than $1,000 for the cause.

Recently, the L-EHS Varsity joined forces with the L-EHS Junior Varsity and L-EMS Volleyball teams and car hopped at the Sonic in Lugoff. All tips will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.  The Lugoff-Elgin Middle school volleyball team is also “digging pink” and has planned a faculty volleyball game to raise money for breast cancer awareness.  In addition, the teams have planned bake sales, T-shirt sales, raffles, and several other events to continue raising money for their philanthropy.
Coach Mullins states, “I am very pleased with the cooperation between the varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams to help raise money for such a worthy cause.

“The players have worked very hard to help raise funds and promote the awareness of breast cancer. We are excited about the upcoming tournament because of the  large number of teams and fans that will be participating in the event. We will be hosting 20 teams at the tournament and expecting over 500 people to attend. We are hoping the large number of guests will help promote the need for awareness of breast cancer research. Although this is our first Dig Pink Tournament we are planning to make this an annual event in order to continue funding a cure for breast cancer.”
