Thanks to law enforcement

I would like to thank the Camden Police Department and the Kershaw County Sherriff’s Office for their support of the Tour de Camden bicycle ride. The ride was this past Saturday, Oct. 15, with approximately 150 cyclists. The City Police got us off to a safe start and through the first two busy left-hand turns. The Sheriff’s Office got us across Highway 34 and on our way to more rural areas.

We had rides of 30, 50 and 62 miles. Due to this support we had a safe Tour de Camden for the seventh straight year. There were riders from Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, New Hampshire and even one from Great Britain! The day was beautiful and our community shined. Our dedicated officers made the day that much better.  We do not always encounter happy drivers and having the support of law enforcement is very beneficial.

Thanks, too, to our ride volunteers, Habit for Humanity, the Thoroughbred Retirement Fund, United Way, Historic Camden and Boy Scout Troop 330 for all their hard work.
