One arrested, one sought in driveway paving scam

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested a 54-year-old man and are seeking the whereabouts of a 39-year-old man for scamming an 81-year-old Lugoff man out of $1,500 for "paving" his driveway.

Camden's 'Hot Dog Man' loses appeal

Ward Ratz is setting up The Dog House again, this time back at his first location between Kmart and Big Lots on West DeKalb Street. Ratz lost an appeal of a decision by the city of Camden to repeal a one-year business license he received to operate on Broad Street. During an interview Thursday, Ratz said he planned to set up shop again at Kmart beginning today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dixon sentenced to federal prison

For four years, Jamie Dixon plied his trade in Elgin: selling drugs, often in exchange for stolen property. Dixon, 33, is now sitting in a federal prison, having pleaded guilty earlier this month to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of cocaine base.

Fire Fest 2014 filled with demonstrations, family fun

Drawings reveal possible future for Rhame Arena

Jaws dropped at Camden City Council's Tuesday afternoon work session. Council members, and citizens attending the meeting, expressed excitement over the revelation of what might be Rhame Arena's future. Representatives from the architectural firm of LTC Associates and engineering firm Bobbitt Design Build, both with offices in Columbia, unveiled initial renderings and floor plans for a vision of Rhame Arena that would serve as a gateway to the city.
