A treasure of books and magazines

One of the holiday gifts I received this past season was a bundle of five books -- the first five books in George R.R. Martin's ongoing fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire. People are getting to know the books thanks to the HBO series named after the first book, "A Game of Thrones."

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies received reports involving an 18-year-old Camden man four times in three days. In the first report, the man called his 17-year-old girlfriend -- with whom he has a 14-month-old child -- and asked her for money. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to break her neck and texted and called her continuously for the next two hours making similar threats. Law Enforcement Report - Feb. 22, 2012

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested two men whom Sheriff Jim Matthews described as "career criminals" following a car chase Feb. 13 where the suspects ran other drivers off the road. Matthews identified the men as Marcus Antwon Greene, 24, of Lyttleton Street, Camden, and Jermaine Davon Mickle, 26, of York Street, Camden. Both men, he said, have extensive criminal records.
