Students honored for perfect state test scores

During its Oct. 3 meeting, the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees recognized 12 students who earned perfect scores on standardized tests during the 2016-2017 school year. Five students earned the maximum score on the S.C. PASS, a statewide assessment for students in 4th, 6th and 8th grades in science, and 5th and 7th grades in social studies.

DUI suspect sentenced for illegal entry into U.S.

A 34-year-old Honduran man arrested in late February for DUI by the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) received a four-month sentence and a special $100 assessment earlier this week for being in the country illegally.

As of Sunday, Sonoco Recycling began charging the city of Camden for any "contaminated" recycling loads containing prohibited materials.

Historic district road work should be done by end of year

There's been a lot of utility and road work going on in Camden during recent months. Camden Public Works Director Tom Couch said he hopes projects being done by the city will be completed by the end of the year. This does not include work being conducted by the S.C. Department of Transportation on Camden enforceable truck route.

Council to consider rezoning for Campbell Street property

During its meeting tonight, Camden City Council will consider first reading of an ordinance rezoning a 23.3-acre piece of undeveloped property stretching between Campbell Street and Ehrenclou Drive from general business district (GBD) to residential R-6.
