Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested a 32-year-old Elgin man Wednesday morning following a two-hour standoff at the man's home. According to a KCSO incident report, deputies Jason Marsh, 32, of Chestnut Circle, Elgin, on one count each of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I, II or III drug and possession of methamphetamine following the standoff.

Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Engine 10 might be a total loss following a collision with a tractor trailer on U.S. 1 in Lugoff early Wednesday afternoon. The collision happened at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday as Engine 10 was responding to a woods fire near Elgin, according to LF-R Chief Dennis Ray. Ray said Engine 10 was backing up a brush unit from the Doby's Mill Fire Department due to no response from the Blaney or Pine Grove volunteer fire departments.
