A highly-anticipated movie is set to premiere in Camden this weekend and Little Theatre owners James and Rita Trivett have donated tickets for every member of law enforcement in Kershaw County. The Camden movie theater will also sell tickets to "Courageous" at a reduced price of $5 to the general public.
After his book "Angry Management" was removed from, and then returned to, Kershaw County School District (KCSD) libraries, author Chris Crutcher came to the county to speak with local residents and students about book banning and censorship.
A coalition of 19 chambers of commerce in the Midlands area -- including the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce -- will work together on regional issues affecting business and commerce. Thanks to a recent unanimous vote by the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees, two Columbia-based for-profit, after-school programs are able to use multipurpose rooms at Blaney and Doby's Mill elementary schools at reduced rates.
The Kershaw County School District (KCSD) currently has nine performance goals for its students. The goals are varied, and range from having every student in kindergarten through second grade performing math and reading on grade level by the end of the school year to having every high school student graduate with either a S.C. high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
