When I remember the kitchen in my teenage years, I know I have a much easier life. The kitchen had a large, one sided sink, a tiny icebox, which later became an even tinier refrigerator, and an oilcloth covered table with wooden chairs. The icebox required the services of the ice man and ran over quite frequently when I did not empty it. The refrigerator was eternally in need of defrosting, since no such thing as frostless or self-defrosting refrigerator existed. Editorial: Court decisions

Two prominent decisions in South Carolina courts this week have been just and fair -- exactly the way most people would like to see the legal system work. The first was a decision by Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen to overturn the 1944 conviction of a 14-year-old boy who was sent to the electric chair back in the Jim Crow days of this state for the murder of two girls.

Letters: Reader proud of vets, kids, county council

Anytime we, as a county, can truly honor something or someone, a warm feeling can overcome you. This is good. This experience happened Dec. 9, the final (regular) Kershaw County Council meeting of 2014. One had to be there to witness this "proud of you" feeling obviously everyone certainly felt.
