Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara Ann Steen Price, 69, of Bishopville, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 14, 2014 at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dave Robinson and Rev. Alvin Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. • For years, the public and the media have made fun of celebrities for mangling The Star-Spangled Banner at sporting and other major events. While we didn't hear of any particular instances this Independence Day, we did hear of one local "star" who did their hometown proud: 12-year-old Louisa DeLoach. As we related on our front page Wednesday, Louisa is a rising seventh-grader at Camden Middle School. She played percussion in the sixth grade band and also plays guitar. Jackson returning to BES, MPES

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees on Tuesday selected former Kershaw County School District (KCSD) principal Theodore Jackson to serve as interim principal for Bethune Elementary School and Mt. Pisgah Elementary School. Jackson is following Davy Branham who moved to North Central High School as principal.
