Bat with rabies found in Bethune home

A bat found in a home in the Bethune area has tested positive for rabies, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported Friday.

Blue light blitz

We're glad to see law enforcement officers, especially state troopers, blanketing Kershaw County roadways this week in an effort to help stem a disturbing trend in traffic-related deaths this year. From today through Saturday, troopers will saturate the area, and they will be assisted by cooperating officers from the Camden Police Department, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office and Elgin Police Department.

LFD stretched thin during storm

Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) resources were stretched thin Wednesday afternoon when a severe thunderstorm ran through the community causing numerous issues that included lightning strikes, ripped down power lines blocking roads, flooding rains closing roads, trees knocked down over roadways and in yards, strong winds, hail, and activated fire alarms.
