Simon Baruch’s Reminiscences of a Confederate Surgeon

After the death of Dr. Yates Snowden, long time history professor at the University of South Carolina, his papers were placed in the South Caroliniana Library. After being accessioned, they were given a general description for the card catalog. Pamphlets and other publications were removed and given an individual card catalog description.

Heritage Tea 2014 Winners Announced

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County presented awards February 25 to Kershaw County students who participated in the 2014 Heritage Tea. Students in grades three through eight from across the county worked on projects reflective of cultural heroes and legends in celebration of Black History Month in an art project competition. Judges presented awards to all winners as well as to the teachers of first place winners. Organizers dedicated the Tea to the memories of Louisa Watkins, Harrison Bennett, Ruby Minton and the students of the Civil Rights movement.

A celebration of life of Dr. Peter Brice McKoy will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, NC.
