Pets of the week -- Aug. 26, 2011

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Jinx, a 2-month-old male orange tabby kitten, and Winny, a 3-month-old male Golden Retriever mix puppy. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Eat Smart Move More Kershaw County has bike racks installed to encourage healthy living

As gas prices settle at over $3 per gallon, many people are looking for alternative forms of transportation. One such option is riding a bicycle. To support those that choose to cycle in Camden, Eat Smart Move More Kershaw County has worked with the city of Camden and Kershaw County government to install bike racks at various locations throughout the city.

The equipment Faulkenberry uses can designate specific roads in the county where storms might be located. • We are comforted when justice is served, and we believe that happened Thursday afternoon when a jury found 33-year-old Willie Thomas Starnes, of Bethune, guilty of armed robbery and murder. The jury found Starnes guilty of deliberately using his vehicle a year ago to knock Alan Thomas Robinson, 67, also of Bethune, off his moped, stealing and loading that moped onto his vehicle and then turning around and running Robinson over.
