I would like to take this opportunity to say a big "thank you" to the Trivetts, owners of the Little Theatre in Camden. They very generously reduced the price of tickets for the movie "Courageous" and also donated tickets to all law enforcement officers in Kershaw County. "Courageous" was not just another Hollywood movie. A church in Georgia puts it on and the actors are actually members of the congregation and staff. Now that in itself might keep some people from going. A "Christian" movie with regular people doing the acting. Sounds to some like a low B grade movie ...
The following real estate transfers were recently recorded in the Kershaw County Assessor's office:
Mr. Cain was my presidential pick well before the Florida straw vote. He strikes me as genuine, intelligent, honest, and he knows his business stuff. He will give us the hope and change we need in this country. He will repeal punishing regulations and open up markets for energy independence and trade. He will lead in making the business climate friendly and inclusive so they will know what their long-range goals are and they will hire again. He will be a uniter, not a divider. His leadership will encourage Congress to work together to establish his 9-9-9 Tax Plan transitioning ...

The women live in Lugoff and Elgin and come to Camden for shopping and doctor's appointments.
Courage is a word we use lightly at times. The dictionary says it's the ability to go ahead in spite of circumstances.
Surprise, surprise. Gov. Nikki Haley has handed out poor "report card" grades to Democratic legislators in Columbia, and they have responded by giving her a poor grade as chief executive of the Palmetto State. When Haley announced shortly after being elected that she planned to hand out grades to legislators, it sounded like a bad idea to us. First of all, it's arrogant. Second, it was reasonably easy to predict that members of her own party would get higher marks than Democrats. And third, it looked as if Haley had learned nothing from the contentious relationship that her predecessor ...

On Sept. 28, 1789, according to a government website, the First Federal Congress passed a resolution asking President George Washington recommend to the nation a day of thanksgiving. The site goes on to describe what happened: a few days later, Washington issued a proclamation naming Thursday, Nov. 26, 1789, as a "day of public thanksgiving" -- the first time the holiday was celebrated by our fledgling country.
Only three minor fires during holiday weekend
It has been said practically every major issue that passes through our GOP-elected officials' state house -- from education to healthcare to the selection of judges -- has racial undertones. And our GOP-elected officials may have passed the crossroad beyond which to get these evil spirits that loom over our state house in order.
Gov. Haley recently took an 11-day trip to India. There are some who are grumbling, calling her trip just another post-election junket by a politician.
