So I read where a restaurant near Pittsburgh is finally implementing a policy I'd like to see everywhere: as of Friday, no children younger than 6 will be welcome there.

Local artist creates painting for KershawHealth

Local artist Lisa Boykin Adams has donated her painting entitled "Healing Trees" to KershawHealth. Depicting trees along the Wateree River, the three-part painting was created by Adams to hang in the lobby of the healthcare system's Outpatient Center in Elgin.

Traffic stop results in seizure of prison contraband

• Beverly Hope Melton's murder on Dec. 26 three years ago shocked Kershaw and Chesterfield counties. Nickolas Jermaine Miller, 26, continues to be held at the Kershaw County Detention Center (KCDC) after he reportedly confessed to abducting Melton in Chesterfield County, repeatedly raping her and then beating her death with a baseball bat in Kershaw County. Miller even led authorities to Melton's body. Despite his reported confession, Miller has yet to work out a plea deal or face a jury. I-20 ramp accident

Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) personnel work to extricate two passengers from this car around 1 p.m. Thursday, which apparently rolled over several times after having gone up an embankment on the eastbound I-20 ramp at Camden Exit 98. Dispatchers initially told the LF-R the accident took place on I-20 itself, but Lugoff Rescue 10, Service 10 and Battalion 1 soon found the accident was on the ramp. LF-R crews stabilized the vehicle and successfully extricated both patients with rescue tools. INVISTA Camden volunteers recognized for maintaining wildlife habitat

Each year, more than 800 purple martins flock to INVISTA's wildlife reserve to hatch their young in one of 200 white gourds atop poles on INVISTA's Camden property in Lugoff. It's the job of 15 employee volunteers to make sure INVISTA's 640-acre wildlife habitat is ready to house these dark-feathered swallows, along with many other species of animals.
