Kershaw County State Sen. Vincent Sheheen has been nominated to be part of the Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership Program at the Aspen Institute. Sheheen senator will join 24 other elected officials from around the country who have been recognized as "America's emerging political leaders with reputations for intellect, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to civil dialogue." Fellows include mayors, state representatives and senators and state-wide elected officials.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) and Columbia Police Department recently arrested a man for molesting two young girls, one in Kershaw County and one in Columbia.

During the last week, we have published two reports on KershawHealth. The first, growing out of the hospital's most recent board of trustees meeting, focused on its market share. It is relatively healthy, thanks to KershawHealth's being the only hospital in all of Kershaw County. More people living in the county turn to KershawHealth for emergency care than anywhere else. However, the report -- broadly speaking -- noted a decrease in market share in outpatient services and only slight increases for inpatient services.

Several years ago, my wife and I, along with our youngest son, his wife and their children, attended a Fourth of July celebration in Bath, Maine. Bath is a picturesque little city which only Maine seems capable of providing. It is also a seafaring town, home to the Bath Iron Works, where ships have slid down the ways for close to 200 years.
I was browsing the internet looking at different sites listing historical events of the past 100 years and was surprised to see how much of history had been left off.
