A funeral service to celebrate the life of Reed Keller Price, 72, of Bishopville, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church in Camden. Rev.'s David Robinson, Ken Bouldin, and Jimmy Atkerson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 PM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in his memory to Antioch Baptist Church, 1875 Antioch Road, Camden, SC 2902.

Scottsboro Boys

The state of Alabama recently took a step towards righting one of the most egregious miscarriages of justice ever perpetrated in this country, issuing posthumous pardons to three members of the "Scottsboro Boys," who were wrongly accused in 1931 of raping two white women on a train. Eight of the nine charged were swiftly convicted and sentenced to death by an all-white jury, with a mistrial being declared for the ninth, 13-year-old Roy Wright.

University guest lecturer at NCMS

North Central Middle School students in Mrs. Stogner's seventh grade science class had a guest visitor from the University of Notre Dame. Emily Amenson, a Ph.D candidate in Analytical and Physical Chemistry at Notre Dame, challenged students to learn all while having fun doing it. "The students loved learning more about acids and bases using indicators (litmus paper, ph paper and phenolphthalein) in order to determine relative ph," said Stogner.
