Camden native takes over local SCNG signal company

Capt. Dwight DeLoach, a Camden native, recently took command of Company C of the S.C. National Guard's (SCNG) 151st Expeditionary Signal Battalion headquartered in Camden. Capt. Octavious K. Baldwin transferred command to DeLoach during an Aug. 5 ceremony held at the Camden National Guard Armory on Ehrenclou Drive.

A KershawHealth accreditation survey that reflects "the most favorable results I have seen in my many years as a healthcare CEO," according to chief executive Donnie Weeks, is a positive sign for KershawHealth during a period of financial turmoil. The hospital's financial struggles (as have those of many hospitals) have been well documented over the last couple years as the economy has taken a toll on elective surgeries and other procedures, so KershawHealth was in need of some good news.

County receives $500K grant for Governor’s Hill water line

Lugoff-Elgin High School's Beta Club recently donated food, toys, treats and supplies to Kershaw County's Walter M. Crowe animal shelter. The Beta Club is a service club for high school students with a GPA of 3.3 or higher. "We focus on service in the community and in the school. We look for ways to help, especially in the community.
