He was born on July 5, 1947 in Camden, SC to Betty Baskins Davis and the late Londees Davis, Sr. Lonnie graduated from Camden High School Class of '65 and Midlands Tech.He served in the US Air Force 49th TAC Fighter Group/8th TAC Fighter squadron, The Black Sheep. No clear leader

South Carolina voters have gained a reputation over the past few years of being able to accurately pick the Republican presidential candidate who will end up with the party's nomination. Candidates have recognized that, crisscrossing the Palmetto State in an effort to woo voters here. But with only a couple of months left before the state's first-in-the-South primary, voters in South Carolina haven't locked in on a particular candidate, which probably is a powerful statement about how ambivalent people are about the GOP field.

Chili champions

The United Way of Kershaw County held its first Chili Cook-off on the Town Green in downtown Camden Saturday. The day was filled with children playing ball, face painting, a wide variety of folks dancing to the music of Second Nature and, of course, lots of chili. There were 17 competing chili teams. SAFE Federal Credit Union sponsored the afternoon event. The chili prepared by The Old Armory won first place in the judges' selection. Today, Nov. 11, 2011, marks 93 years since the Armistice was signed that ended the hostilities of World War I, "the war to end all wars." Hostilities were ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th month 93 years ago. To commemorate the Armistice and the return to peace, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Nov. 11, 1919, as Armistice Day.
