Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are a lhasa apso dog who found its way to the shelter last weekend, and a 2-year-old female dilute calico cat. Funeral services for Pauline Ray, 82, of Lugoff, will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church, with burial to follow at Hardshell Cemetery. Rev. Joe Stines, Rev. Charles Roark, and Rev. Doug Whitfield will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hardshell Cemetery.

Bethune mayor addresses PD, budget rumors
At a public hearing and regular Bethune Town Council meeting Thursday, council invited citizens to voice their thoughts and opinions regarding its proposed Fiscal Year 2014 budget.
