The Bethune Lions Club recently held its "Peace Poster" contest. Donnie Patrick Joyner

Funeral services for Donnie Patrick Joyner, 70, will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, Camden, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Marthers will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International.

S.C. football, politicians and great expectations

This week, virtually everyone in South Carolina is talking about the Clemson-USC (University of South Carolina) football game. Without a doubt, it's the biggest Clemson-USC game ever. Dating back to 1896, it is the oldest uninterrupted football rivalry in the South and the second oldest in the country. A 1952 state law requires the two schools to play each other.
