Karl Rove, a star political strategist, is outraged that Donald Trump, a star real-estate mogul and reality show host, is staging a reality show with real Republican presidential candidates and calling it a debate. Yet, with all due respect, Trump is only exploiting a process that political strategists like Rove already hijacked.

My husband and I would like to thank Dr. Tommy Joseph for his many years of selfless service to the children of Kershaw County. We both saw Dr. Joseph as children and then took our own two sons to him for the past 14 years. He was a gift to our family and the community. He calmed our many "new parent" fears and reassured us while providing the best medical treatment available. He is one of a kind and we will miss seeing him at the doctor's office. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
On Nov. 29th I was on my way home for lunch and saw the Lugoff Fire Department in front of my neighbor's house. After parking in the road and walking over to where my neighbor was standing I found out that, fortunately, the house was not on fire but a scene was taking place that looked like it should have been on television.
Just my opinion…

Two horrific diseases have been brought into the spotlight recently -- ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, which has caught the public eye through an "ice bucket challenge," and depression, brought into further consciousness through the tragic suicide of actor/comedian Robin Williams. Attention in such matters is always beneficial, both in terms of raising money to fight the diseases and in making Americans more aware of the challenges of such maladies.
I jokingly call my backyard "the wilderness." My house, built in 1912, sits fairly close to my downtown street, as is the custom in the Historic District in Sumter. The Victorian cast iron fence and neat little patch of grass in my front yard belie what is happening behind my house. The deck at the back of my house overlooks a very deep backyard filled with towering oak and pecan trees. Just over the fence at the rear of the yard is a magnificent willow oak which is probably 100 years old. It rises majestically above all and makes a ...
Recently, a moron driving a green tractor, S.C. highway department, I suppose, mutiliated a beautiful tree in a couple's front yard while they were at work.
There is help, there is healing. Many descriptions describe the downward plunge; the things that hold you down and the things that take you out. The common known things are drugs, alcohol -- addictions to things with chemical reactions that are bad for the body. The body is a chemical reaction chamber; all it needs is a catalyst and it's a brand new chemical which can put that nail in your coffin. The reactions or side effects are the worst. It's reaction and then interaction and reaction and maybe interaction again.
