Last night, my daughter wanted to draw a bird. Elated she was showing common interest, I quickly answered her request to view the "bird book" in order to find the perfect candidate. She thumbed through the pages, impressed by the vast array of coloration found in our native species. Funeral service for Joyce Elaine West, 60, will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Watford will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a cancer charity of one's choice.
Celebration of Life Service for David C. "Bill" Dixon Jr., 83, will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in Malvern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Marine Corps Pfc. Hunter W. Fitch and Pfc. Robert S. Semmler, both 2012 graduates of Camden Military Academy, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.
The Chronicle-Independent announces newsroom changes effective today with the hiring of Camden native Fraser Speaks as its new Localife editor. Speaks will take over the Localife page from Tenell Felder. Felder is taking up the mantle of West Wateree Chronicle editor from Michael Ulmer who left Friday for a position with the Aiken Standard.
