Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested two men May 8 who had planned to rob a Camden bank. Sheriff Jim Matthews said deputies arrested Danny Burch Jr., 33, and William C. Means, 34, both of Camden, after deputies received information they planned to rob the unidentified bank. Deputies later arrested Russell Roberts, 31, of Kershaw, on other charges.

Kershaw County Republican Party Chairman Chris Oviatt said Demer did not file her statement of economic interest by the deadline set by the Election Commission. Dorothy Marie Nussbaum Hayes Mion, 81, of Camden, died Monday, March 23, in Columbia at PalmettoHealth Heart Hospital. She was born in Washington, DC, and lived for most of her life in Glen Echo, MD. She spent many years managing the business side of the studio at their Glen Echo home of her former husband, artist Pierre Mion, and then became secretary of Kenwood Country Club, in Bethesda, MD, after a brief period at US News & World Report.

• Friday, we reported a grand jury finally indicted 22-year-old Stephen Ross Kelly for his alleged kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of Briana Rabon. We say "finally indicted" because Briana was killed more than a year ago. While we cannot be certain -- grand jury proceedings are secret, and for good reason -- we suspect the indictments were handed down now because the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) only recently completed its forensic examination of evidence it and the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office collected.
