Midlands Women’s Center to hold fundraising banquet

Midlands Women's Center, the pregnancy care center of Kershaw County, will host its annual fundraising banquet and silent auction today at 6 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church at 106 Longtown Road in Lugoff.

Basim Gilchrist

Master Basim Gilchrist, 3, of Cassatt, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Febraury 17, 2014. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the son of Bruce and Vanessa Alston Gilchrist. A Celebration of Life and Homegoing service will be held Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Home Chapel of Rememberance, with burial in Cedars Cemetery, Camden. Brown's Funeral Home, Camden is serving the Gilchrist family.

SandSpurs win two championships

The South Carolina SandSpurs, a travel baseball team made up of boys from Camden and Lugoff, ended their season with two Championship wins and four second place showings. Miss Green and Gold pageant Thursday

North Central High School's 2013 Miss Green and Gold, Madeline Pate (above), will be crowning the new 2014 Miss Green and Gold on Thursday in NCHS' auditorium. The pageant begins at 6 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase at the school and from contestants. This year the pageant will feature a "Blast form the Past" theme for the 29 contestants. There will also be eight student talent acts competing for the talent show portion of the evening. Tickets prices are reserved seating: $10; advanced: $6; and at the door: $8.
