The Veggie Station, located on 2406-B Broad St., recently opened shop. The owners, Chris and Ann McCormick of Cassatt, originally started with a vegetable truck making stops around Camden to sell produce two years ago. I saw some pictures from the royal wedding. The bride was very pretty. But she was out-done by some of the guests. These ladies wore hats that were -- well, different. Someone explained to me that one of the important things is for the ladies to wear a hat. It must be different from the one she wore to the last wedding she attended. I guess that she will wear a dress, perhaps even a new one. But the hat is the thing.

Amanda Harris, a fourth grade teacher at Jackson School, is the 2013-14 Reading Teacher of the Year. The Kershaw County Reading Council named Harris its teacher of the year during its annual recognition program at Pine Tree Hill Elementary School. Each school in the district had the opportunity to nominate a reading teacher of the year who submitted an application to be critiqued by an external judge.
"The Community Medical Clinic (CMC) held a festive 15-year anniversary party on November 14 at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Four hundred community supporters were invited to a red carpet awards show. Their collective efforts represent a community resolve that has provided health care to more than 5,000 Kershaw County patients from 1998 to 2013. This event was a thank you to clinic volunteers who have unselfishly given their time and financial assistance.
Camden ART's annual fall show will be on exhibit at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County beginning Friday and lasting until Jan. 16. A reception will be held Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Bassett Gallery coinciding with the annual performance of The Nutcracker. (The FAC is closed for Christmas break from Dec. 23 until Jan.)
