Yes, I know that I am, occasionally, prone to embellishment. But trust me when I say this is the law and the gospel: I have a long-time friend who only calls me when someone dies. Most times, I know the person but sometimes I don't have a clue the person ever existed.

Funeral service for William A. "Bill" Dickey, 65, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Joyner, Dan Joyner, Kyle Dickey, James M. Clyburn, Stephen Mays, Louis Clyburn III, and Scott Moore. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or New Life Christian Outreach Building Fund.

We wrote recently of a change in the way KershawHealth is managing its emergency department, sending seriously threatened patients to one area for immediate, vital care while directing others who are less ill to be treated in a non-emergency system. It's cost-effective, but also provides quality care for both types of patients.

Rec Notes: Trick or Treat Trail offers family fun

The Kershaw County Recreation Department along with SAFE Federal Credit Union and Kimbrell's Furniture will host Trick or Treat Trail, a "Boostastic time for the whole family" today from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rhame City Arena located on 517 Broad Street.
