At approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) traffic officers arrested Donald Wayne Gillham Jr., 45, of Sun City Center, Fla., after an officer stopped the 2012 Chevrolet he was driving on I-20 in Kershaw County and found 102 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his vehicle.

Funeral service for Inez Mickle, 81, of 1488 John G. Richards Road in Camden will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, 11 a.m. at Good Hope AME Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Peggy Sue, a year and a half old female hound mix, and a female calico cat. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Kershaw County Council's consideration of a noise ordinance is a positive thing that needs to move forward to a conclusion. It should set specific standards for what kind and level of noise is acceptable and what's not. Blaring music, loud equipment and yelping dogs might not bother some people at all, but it can keep their neighbors from sleeping or enjoying peaceful summer days and nights.
Kathleen J. Hall, 91, widow of Scott Wilson Hall, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 4, 2012. A funeral service will be held Saturday July 7, 2012 at 11:30 am in The Chapel at Bishop Gadsden. Interment will be held Saturday in Magnolia Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
The Kershaw County Recreation Department (KCRD) H2O Fun Camp is offered to boys and girls ages 6-11 who already have basic swimming skills. They must be able to swim 25 yards independently. The instructor are experienced Red Cross lifeguards. They will provide unique and fun activities in and out of the pool. Participants will learn how to play safely as a team in and around water as well as having tons of fun.
Salkehatchie Summer Service meets every summer for a week to provide renovations to homes in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. The Wateree camp is sponsored by Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church to rebuild homes in Camden. Youth from all over the area come together to be a part of a great experience that's beneficial to those in need.
