AgSouth reports strong year

AgSouth Farm Credit CEO Bill Spigener has announced that the customer-owned cooperative, with an office in Kershaw County, had net earnings of $6.7 million during the fourth quarter of 2010. Year-to-date earnings total $35.9 million and exceed the association's earnings of Dec. 31, 2009, by more than $9.7 million.

It’s youth arts month at the FAC

March is Youth Arts Month at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County! Join us for a celebration of the arts featuring work by Kershaw County students displayed at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC), as well as the Youth Production of Snow White featuring more than 80 local children. Snow White runs March 10-13 in the Wood Auditorium. Evening performances begin at 7:00 p.m., with the Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. Tickets to the production are $7.

David Wright

David Dwayne Wright, 51, of Lugoff, SC. died Monday March 7, 2011. Born in Columbia, SC he was the son of the late Raleigh Fulmer Wright, Sr. and Ida Joyce Aughtry Wright. Mr. Wright was employed by Lugoff Tire as a truck tire changer and brake mechanic. He was a member of Enon Southern Methodist Church. A memorial service for Mr. Wright will be held at a later date.

“Robert Mills: Designs for Democracy”

Robert Mills was the first American born and trained architect. He called himself "Robert Mills, Architect of Public Buildings." Indeed, Mills established a new scale and standard for public buildings in Washington, D. C. when he designed the Treasury Building, the Patent Office, and the General Post Office in the 1830s and early 1840s. In other parts of the country, Mills designed buildings that were sensitive to regional values and local architectural traditions. Always his attention was on permanency and fireproofing for his public buildings.

These lovable furry friends need homes
