• NBC is hiring former First Child Chelsea Clinton to do news projects. She will join Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of ex-President George W. Bush, in doing work for the network, including the "Today" show. Looking at the kids of a former Democratic and Republican president, it strikes us that the duo might comprise the only semblance of political neutrality that left-leaning NBC has ever shown.

Samantha Ann Mitchell and William Edward Glover, both of Camden, S.C., were united in marriage on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Lakeview Baptist Church. The five o'clock double-ring ceremony was performed by Reverend Hugh McKinney. Following the wedding, a reception was held at the Robert Mills House.

Happy Feet

In early November, the Camden and West Wateree Rotary Clubs came together to provide shoes for Kershaw County students in need. The program, "Happy Feet", gave deserving children vouchers to purchase a new pair of shoes at the Camden K-Mart.

Pets of the week -- Nov. 18, 2011

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Heather, a 2-year-old spayed Beagle dog, and a female black-and-white short-haired cat. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
