How about a tax/fee that benefits everyone?

I would like to thank Mr. Floyd Hinson for his well-written article "Citizens paying for services they don't receive" published in the Chronicle-Independent Jan. 20. He is "right on" about our sewer tax and other taxes/fees such as the special purpose tax. People need to know just what these taxes/fees or whatever you call them are. For those of us who really do care, we need to attend the county council meetings more often so we can see more of what is going on in our area or district. Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Annabelle, a 1-year-old female retriever mix dog, and a 10- to 11-month-old male domestic short-haired kitten. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
