Black Friday

Thanksgiving generally marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, though commerce in this country is a continually changing animal. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving when many stores have kicked off big sales and deep discounts, appears to be lessening in importance. Retail experts say there's more of a trend now in discounting that starts before Black Friday and extends well beyond it. Shoppers have become so accustomed to discounting among retailers that many are determined from the outset not to pay full price for anything.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Yes, I know it's only just Thanksgiving but, admit it, many of you will be getting out the holiday lights and wreaths from the attic this weekend or going to buy your Christmas tree! Here at the city, we've had to start early as it takes time for us to deck the halls for December. Our street and electric department crews have been diligently working to decorate for Christmas. Thanks to their efforts, we'll have embellished light poles throughout the city and a lot of lit trees, too.

Mrs. Connie Mae Mickle, 91, of Camden, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Rachel Mickle and David Fletcher. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Eleven a.m., at Brown's Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the charity of one's choice. Brown's Funeral Home, Camden is serving the Mickle family.

Mr. and Mrs. Florian celebrate 60 years

Fred J. Florian and Pearl Polinski Florian of Camden Celebrated 60 years of marriage Nov. 20. The couple married in 1954 at St. Hilary's Catholic Church in Washington, Pa. They have five sons: Fred. M, Tony, Robert, Bill and Chris. The couple has four grandchildren: Derick, Thomas, Kayla and Rachel.
