Clinton’s ‘workfare’

Seeing the five living presidents together at the recent dedication of the George W. Bush Library in Houston produced more than a few memories, one of them being former President Clinton's move to the center after his wife's push for national health care ran against a roadblock among the public and among members of Congress. One of his signature achievements was signing into law in 1996 the so-called "workfare" bill, which required states to push welfare recipients into jobs after a certain period of time receiving federal and state assistance.

77th Annual Spring Dog Show

Grace Episcopal Church announces the 77th Annual Spring Dog Show scheduled for Saturday. It will be held at Rectory Square in downtown Camden. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and is $5 per pet, per class or $10 per dog for two or more classes. The show starts at noon.

Lugoff man arrested on sexual conduct charges

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested a 35-year-old Lugoff man Tuesday on charges he had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl. A KCSO press release identified the arrested man as Jonathan Wade Ray, and that investigators charged him with second degree criminal sexual conduct.
