Editorial: Economic development

Kershaw County Council Chairman Julian Burns, in the infancy of a four-year term he says will be his only one, isn't making any secrets about his No. 1 priority: economic development. Burns is hanging an "open for business" sign out for Kershaw County, and he's making the rounds to drum up support. Good for him.

Richardson: Spring fever brings summer bounty

The daffodils are nodding their pretty yellow heads all over town. To me, they are the harbingers of spring, blooming long before the weather is really warm. Thomas Britton White Jr.

For ninety years, seven months and ten days, Thomas Britton White, Jr. of Camden had a very good run. Sadly, it ended on Saturday, March 14, 2015 with Andy and Debbie by his side. After a courageous, decades-long battle with pigweed, he succumbed to a brief bout with lymphoma. He left us convinced that if that pesky weed is, in fact, present in Heaven, there will also be a herbicide that is 100% effective against it. Further, he did not expect to find squirrels there when he arrived last Saturday evening.
