L-EMS Girls on Track

Girls on Track at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School finished the spring season by completing a 5K with a running buddy in Cayce on Saturday, May 2. Girls on Track is a program for girls in grades 6-8 regardless of their athletic ability, and focuses on important aspects such as team building, developing support systems, boundary setting, and decision making.

Jeff Redmire

Jeff Redmile, 69, beloved husband of Joan McLain Redmile, ended his courageous battle with brain cancer on Thursday May 7, 2015 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC. Jeff and Joan were married for almost 47 years.

A celebration of life service for Allen Leroy Conrad, 57, will be held today at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter.

Services for Eleanor Hancock Barnes will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. John United Methodist Church, Spring Hill Road in Rembert, with burial beforehand in the church cemetery. Kershaw County pastors pray for the nation

Ministers and church members from Kershaw County gathered in front of the Kershaw County Courthouse at Noon Thursday, May 7, for the National Day of Prayer. Millions of Christians around the country did the same. Here in Camden, Scripture reading and prayer were offered for the President, Congress, Supreme Court, business leaders, educational leaders, military and first responders, and the family. The event was led by the Kershaw Baptist Association and the Kershaw County Ministerial Association.

CMA to hold annual Spring Meeting

The Camden Music Association of Kershaw County (CMA) will hold its annual Spring Meeting in the Douglas Reed House at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) on May 17 at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Any interested in music, playing or listening is invited to attend. An important subject, to change the name of the group from the Camden Music Association to the Kershaw County Music Association, will be discussed. All attendees will be urged to express an opinion and to vote when a motion is made.

Camden ART Spring Honors Show Reception, Tuesday

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) hosts opening reception of the Camden ART Members' Spring Honors Show in the Bassett Gallery May 12. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Chamber Choir of Kershaw County's Spring Concert at 7 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
