One of the good things about living in a small town like Camden is the fact that those who do good deeds often get recognized. People in communities such as ours appreciate those who help, and they enjoy showing that gratitude. There were two recognitions in the last week that are particularly notable.
The South Carolina High School League state baseball and softball playoffs open for Lugoff-Elgin and North Central with the 4A and AA tourneys kicking off Thursday. Camden will begin AAA postseason action on Friday night.
Mr. Jerry "Pete" Nathaniel Murphy, 49, of 915 Mitchell Drive, Camden, South Carolina passed on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Lugoff S.C., Burial will be at St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery in Lugoff, SC. Haile's funeral home is serving the family.
A celebration of life service for Tracy Lynn Popham, 61, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Camden. The Bishop Arthur Turbyfill will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, 34 Chestnut Ferry Rd, Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Hie Joe Truesdale, 78, of 1300 Campbell Street, Apt. 24, Palmer Place, Camden died Monday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Brown's Funeral Home, Camden, who is serving the Truesdale Family.
