Trike-a-thon

Grace Church Kindergarten and Preschool recently held their annual St. Judes Trike-a-thon. The school raised more than $1,200 for St. Jude Childrens Hospital. The children also learned about bike safety and the importance of helping others during this fun week. Above, a group of 4-year-olds pose for a picture. • There's a controversy over federal subsidies granted to college students, and that's a valid subject for debate, but lost in the shuffle is the fact that college costs are out of control. The expense charged to students from colleges and universities has skyrocketed in the two decades at a rate far exceeding the increase in the cost of living. Colleges need to get a handle on that before criticizing the government for not allowing large subsidies.

CMA student recognized for musical talent

On Sunday, April 29, the Camden Community Concert Band was joined by the 282nd Army Band in a performance held in Rectory Square Park in Camden. Also joining the band was Fuli Wang, a cadet trumpeter from Camden Military Academy. At the show, the band premiered Full Blown March, a newly discovered musical composition by Clayton Earle Bullis Robinson.

Republicans are delighted to hear they scored better than Democrats and independents in a new survey of political knowledge. Fine. I'm sure Democrats would be just as boastful if their side scored better. Everybody in politics wants to believe that their side is brilliant and the others are a bunch of nitwits.
