Scobie still needs a home

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Scobie, an adult Chihuahua mix male and a male black and white cat. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Our Public Works Department Street and Electric crews have been diligently working to decorate the city for Christmas. I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but it takes time for us to deck the halls for December. Thanks to their efforts we'll have decorated light poles throughout the downtown and several lit Christmas trees.

Camden man charged with molesting 9-year-old

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies charged a Camden man Tuesday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct after turning himself in over accusations he inappropriately touched a 9-year-old girl. In a statement released Wednesday, the KCSO identified the man as Christopher D. Yates, of Lakeshore Drive, Camden. Deputies interviewed him with his attorney present before charging him.

William "Bill" Stradford

Mr. William "Bill" Stradford, Sr., 80, of Camden, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Born in Camden, South Carolina, he was the husband of Constance Henderson Stradford and the son of the late Ned, Sr. and Marie Boyd Stradford. A Funeral Service to honor the life of Barbara O. Brazell, 72, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev.
